Ms. Catalina Novoa-Herrán, Principal Process Safety Engineer, holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from National University of Colombia and a Process Safety Certification from Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center of Texas A&M University. She has over 13 years of process engineering design and process safety experience in the Oil & Gas industry (upstream and midstream), Chemical industry, and Consumer Goods. She has facilitated/scribed several PHA studies (HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, SWIFT, Bow-Tie) and has led / participated in multiple OSHA PSM / EPA RMP compliance audits and CCPS RBPS 20 elements implementation. She is also skilled in process simulations, relief systems and flare design, consequence analysis and modeling of hazardous materials release. She has managed/executed projects in Latin America and has participated in several Risk Assessment projects in the US, Europe, and APAC regions. She is a Senior member of AIChE and has also served as co-chair and speaker of the Spanish sessions at the Global Congress of Process Safety conference by AICHE. Ms. Novoa is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
